john oliver is pretty much killing the lead-in segment. if jon stewart decides to become a full time director, TDS is in good hands.

We could do with a good round of brazil-style protests in the UK (minus the tear gas and rubber bullets)

Brazil day 5: these posts are gonna be rather inconsistent

Well this weekend I went camping with other people from AIESEC, the organisation I am volunteering for. It was a bit weird as everyone was speaking portuguese all the time though ccasionally the people who spoke some english told me what was going on/ what everyone was talking about. Anyway we played a lot of football and watched the Brazil vs Japan match and later had a bit of a party in which I got very confused by the drinking games. But yeah it was fun, and it rained quite a lot so it felt like home haha.

First day in brazil

Well it’s been interesting, I have now met many people some of whom know a bit of english but most of whom speak portuguese and some of whom are columbian and therefore speak spanish.Suffice to say I have never been anywhere where I feel less comfortable about my terrible language skills. However, I feel like I have already made some friends/acquaintances. I went out for sushi with some of them and then went for a cerveja (beer, one of the only words I know in portuguese) later and am now rather tipsy. All in all it has been an interesting and weird first day, who knows what tomorrow may bring,
